The Bangladesh consulate in Sittwe, the capital of Rakhine State, has been
temporarily relocated to Yangon.
Bangla foreign minister Dr Hasan Mahmud told reporters
in Dhaka on Monday that the consulate was relocated due to the security
situation.
He also added that all 340 border guard police
personnel and soldiers, who fled to Bangladesh, will be sent back to Myanmar
soon.
"That's our priority to send them back. Both
sides (Bangladesh and Myanmar) have reached a consensus that they would be sent
back,” he revealed.
Myanmar wants to repatriate their security personnel,
and efforts are underway to facilitate this process, said Mahmud without
specifying a particular date for the initiative.
"I don't want to give any specific date. That's
confidential as security issues are involved," he asserted.
Earlier, Dhaka summoned the Myanmar ambassador to
Bangladesh to lodge protests over deaths of two Bangladeshi nationals and also
landing of Myanmar mortar shells in Bangladesh.
