The gunfights near Myanmar’s Taung Pro town, close to the Bangladesh border,erupted resulting in casualties on the Bangladesh side as well.
The residents reported that a helicopter belonging tothe Myanmar forces carried out airstrikes on the camps, recently captured bythe Arakan Army (AA), reported the Bangladeshimedia outlets.
The sound of artillery shells on Monday promptedresidents of Bangladesh border areas to evacuate their houses. The residents ofthree villages along the Ghumdhum border fled to safer places.
An artillery shell, fired from Myanmar, exploded inJalpaitoli village of Naikhongchhari upazila under Bandarban district andkilled a Bangladeshi woman and a man from Balukhali Muslim refugee camp, said a Bangladesh BGB’s report.
The dead woman is identified as Hosne Ara (55, wife ofBadsha Mia) and the other one as Nabi Hossain (65) from BalukhaliRohingya camp ,reported Prothom Alo daily newspaper.
Additionally, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel arrested a Myanmaresefamily comprising husband, wife and three children while crossing theinternational border.
Lieutenant colonel Mohiuddin Ahmed, the Teknaf 2 BGBcommander, stated that security was heightened along the border due to theongoing conflict in bordering Myanmar localities.
