Intense clashes between theArakan Army (AA) and junta forces erupted near Sai Tin bridge in southernButhidaung locality of Rakhine State.
"The clashes began on28 January morning and persisted for many hours," said a resident.
He added that the clashes unfolded on and around thebridge.
"I heard that themilitary junta suffered a huge loss. It seems, the AA fighters attacked thejunta soldiers stationed on the bridge and base near it. However, the detailsare yet to be known," he said.
From around 6:40 am on 27 January, the clashes brokeout near Kyar Nyo Pyin bridge camp of Buthidaung township and thefighting continued till next day, reported the Three Brotherhood Alliance.
There are reported casualties among the soldiers inthat battle.
