A junta air force plane, sent to pick up the soldierswho fled to Mizoram of northeast India, skidded off the runway at Lengpuiairport before it reached the terminal, reported by local news agency.

Local residents said that the plane slided from therunway at around 10:30 this morning.

"The plane skidded off the runway while landingat Lengpui airport. The condition of the injured is yet to be known," saida resident from  Aizawl.

There are unconfirmed reports suggesting that someindividuals on board have lost their lives due to the incident.

On 17 January, a total of 276 junta soldiers,comprising 36 officers, fled to Mizoram after facing defeat in a battlesagainst the Arakan Army (AA) in Paletwa township of Chin State.

Among them, 184 were already airlifted by a junta airforce plane from Lengpui airport on 22 January and the aircraft incident tookplace when the second batch was about to be shifted to Sittwe.
