Sittwe airport in Rakhine State has been struck by adrone engineered bomb attack. A local resident informed Narinjara News that thedrone-dropped bombs fell on the important airport at around 8:30 pm on 15January.

"I heard a loud sound at around 8:30 pm. Itseemed like bombs were dropped by a drone," he added.

The drone-dropped bombs damaged some buildings at the airport complex causinginjuries to some people too.

"One bomb fell in the VIP office. I heard that five individuals wereinjured. Due to the darkness nobody could be identified,”  he stated.

The residents speculate that the bomb attack was aimed at the junta's militaryhelicopters which were undergoing refuelling.

Narinjara News tried to  contact Rakhine State security and border affairsminister colonel  Kyaw Thura and Rakhine State military councilspokesperson U Hla Thein for details, but they did not respond.
