Military junta chief seniorgeneral Min Aung Hlaing held a meeting with Sun Weidong, vice-minister ofChina’s foreign ministry, in Naypyidaw on Friday, where the military regimereportedly discussed on bilateral issues related to the border disputes, stabilityand peace in the shared localities.
Lieutenant-general Ye WinOo, joint secretary of the military regime, lieutenant-general Yar Pyae,minister of interior affairs, U Than Swe, minister for foreign affairs, as wellas other officials and Chinese ambassador Chen Hai, special envoy forAsian affairs Deng Xijun with others were present at the meeting.
The present talks are beingorganised at the time of escalated conflicts in northern Shan State, where Laukkai city is currently under the control ofMyanmar National Defense Alliance Army (MNDAA).
Between 7 and 9 January, a third meeting is scheduled to take place inKunming of Yunnan province, where the junta delegation will meetrepresentatives of Three Brotherhood Alliance (MNDAA, TNLA, AA).
The political analystsbelieve that the recent discussion between Min Aung Hlaing and Sun Weidong mayimpact the forthcoming discussions between the junta and Three BrotherhoodAlliance.
