Since our news agency's inception, we have remained steadfast in ourcommitment in serving the people of Arakan and upholding the principles ofresponsible journalism. Throughout our journey, we have diligently reported andpresented news with the utmost accuracy, adhering strictly to the tenets ofmedia ethics. Throughout these years, we have encountered challenges, faced twists & turns, and navigated obstacles. Nevertheless, we take pridein our ability to consistently deliver news that the public should be aware of,ensuring not a single day is wasted with no informative contributions.
As we stepinto 2024, our commitment to presenting news and serving the public remainsunwavering, despite the formidable challenges currently confronting our newsagency. The primary concerns revolve around the constraints on freedom ofaccess to information in Arakan and the military junta's targeted arrests of journalists undervarious charges. Consequently, both of our press offices in Sittwe andall news related activities were suspended. Faced with the junta's relentlesspursuit of journalists in Sittwe township, they have been compelled torelocate, reporting from the liberated areas with notable difficulties.Undoubtedly, 2024 is a pivotal year, representing a critical juncture for thenation. Given these challenging circumstances, we maintain our steadfast determinationto work diligently, ensuring the delivery of timely and accurate news, freefrom any bias, to our readers.
In 2024,the Rakhine conflict is poised to escalate, potentially intensifying theadverse impacts of the war. Notably, individuals in Rakhine, uninvolved in theconflict, face an increased risk of being targeted by the junta. Nevertheless,we maintain belief and hope that through unity, mutual support among the peopleof Arakan, adherence tonational Rakhita principles, and collaborative efforts, we can overcome allthese difficulties.
We stronglyurge individuals not to despair amidst the ongoing conflicts in the Arakan region and to avoid excessive fear. It'simportant to recognize that these conflicts extend beyond Arakan(Rakhine) State, affecting regions across Myanmar, both on the plains and in the mountains. The predominant cause of the conflictsin Rakhine is the loss of national rights. Therefore, we encourage people toanalyze the current state of affairs with a clear perspective and address theconsequences of the war through the shared national consciousness of the entireArakanese community. As we enter 2024, our heartfelt desire is for this year to usher in positivechanges such as freedom, justice, and peace for the Arakanese society.
