Two groups of junta soldiers fled into Mizoram in northeast India facing the offensive of the Arakan Army(AA) members on point-377 hill-basedcamp, a military stronghold of the junta in the Paletwa
region.
The soldiers entered Tuisen village in Lawngtlai district of Mizoram in two groups on 29 December.
The initial group comprising 73 soldiers entered the Mizo village by 11 amand later the second batch of 10 soldiersarrived by 6 pm.
The soldiers surrendered at an Indian police station and later they were handed over to the Assam Riflesalong with their weapons. They werealready shifted to Lunglei locality of Mizoram.
When inquired about the matter, an individual aligned with the AA informed that over 80 soldiers from the military camp werecaptured by their members.
"We have received information that there are more than 80 soldiers who fled to India side.Their only escape route was to Indiasince the lower part of the region is controlled by the AA. It's believed that the Indian agencies havebeen providing protection to thesoldiers,” he added.
The AA reported the complete capture of the junta's point-377 hill-based camp in Paletwalocality along the India-Myanmar border on Thursday morning.
