Two university students arrested by junta troops in Buthidaung

Family members of the two female university studentswho were arrested by junta forces on Sunday morning in Buthidaung township,Rakhine State, are worried because they haven't been able to get in touch withthem yet.

 

The arrested students namely  Ma Sanda Win (23years old in third-year Philosophy major) and Ma Aye Soe (23, a third-yearMyanmar major) hail from Arkar Pyin village.

 

Both of them went to Buthidaung to fix theirtelephones at 7 am on 24 December and while they were returning at 11 am, theywere arrested by the soldiers near the golf course.

 

 "They headed to Buthidaung to repair theirphones. Upon their return, they were arrested by the junta troops. We are yetto reach them and really concerned about their status," said a  closefamily member.

 

The junta troops have reportedly taken them toButhidaung tactical operation command base.

 

“We  heard that they were taken to the tacticaloperation command base. The family members are not allowed to meet them,"added the family member.

 

On Sunday, about 50 junta troops engaged in gunfireand later seized the belongings of local villagers. Later those were loaded onthe boats at Mya Taung jetty. The residents further added that three boatowners were also taken into their custody.

 

Narinjara News  is looking for the names ofarrested boat owners. Earlier on the night of 23 December, the residents ofButhidaung stated that one Ko Nyan Lin (40) was arrested by the soldiers fromhis residence in number five ward of  Buthidaung township.
