A source closely associated with the military councilreported that six junta soldiers were injured in a landmine attack in Taunguptownship of Rakhine State. They were airlifted by a helicopter formedical treatment.
On 18 December, at around 10:20 pm, a civilian car andtwo military vehicles carrying about 50 soldiers from Thandwe to Taungup wereattacked with landmines by the Arakan Army (AA) in between Moke and Ta Pyawtvillages under Taungup township.
"Six soldiers sustained serious injuries in the incident. The latestinformation suggests that they were airlifted by a helicopter to Mingaladonmilitary hospital in Yangon.They were transported overnight," said the source.
He also stated that the injured six soldiers were airliftedby 11 pm.
However, Narinjara News is yet to authenticate theinformation that the injured soldiers were sent to the military hospital.
On that day, Taungup urban areas witnessed some landmine explosions andalso gunfire, when the military council troops resorted to firing artilleryshells from Taungup Tat Oo Kyaung and Chaung Kauk mountains, added the source.
Some artillery shells fired by the soldiers even landed approximately two milesaway from Shwe Pan Taw village.
