National League for Democrcay’s central workingcommittee has expressed concern over the health condition of Daw Aung San SuuKyi, who has been imprisoned for years in the military ruled Myanmar.
In a statement, issued on 14 September, the NLDasserted that the military council will be fully responsible if her life slipsinto danger due to lack of adequate health care facilities.
Suu Kyi, who is now 78 years old, has been sufferingfrom various diseases for the last few weeks, but she has been denied propermedical treatments.
The statement alleges that her accommodation was notproperly maintained and the junta may put her life in danger.
U Bo Bo Oo, a member of NLD’s central committee,informed Narinjara News that they are especially worried about her deterioratedhealth condition. He stated that the international community should find waysto put pressure on the junta for the benefit of the Nobel peace laureate.
Currently, San Suu Kyi remains cut off from theoutside world as well as her family. The NLD expressed worries over her poorhealth, as portrayed on social media by many individuals, and urged theinternational community to come forward supporting and encouraging thepro-democracy icon.
The party leaders claimed that Suu Kyi was kidnappedby the military rulers and she has not been allowed to enjoy the minimum rightsof a political prisoner.
The NLD also appealed to the United Nations, leadersfrom ASEAN community and governments of neighboring countries to put pressureon the military regime in Naypyitaw to release all political prisonersincluding Suu Kyi as soon as possible.
Suu Kyi has been sentencedto a total of 33 years in prison for 19 cases lodged by bythe military council. In August 2022, shewas given a six-year parole by the juntaauthority under an amnestyand even though the lady has to faceimprisonment for no less than 27 years.
