1,000 Chinese online cheaters arrested by Wa police, handed over to China police

More than a thousand Chinese nationals, who were running a racket of online gambling and fraud businesses,were arrested by the Wa State policein Wa autonomous region of  Shan State and later they were handed over to the China policepersonnel.

On 6 and 7 September,  1,207 Chinese nationals who found embezzling money from various online gamblingbusinesses and they were handed overto the concerned police, confirmed U Nyi Yang, the liaison officer of  United Wa State Army (UWSA) in Lashio.

Among them, over 1,000 Chinese nationals who were arrested. There were also women in group.

Wa news media WSTV reported that many women were also arrested. However,  Nyi Yang refused to givemore details about them.




“The gambling is done with betting on football matches. There are other games as well. As the jobs inMyanmar do not give the employees enoughmoney, many of them get attracted to the practice of
gambling,'' said local  businessman.

Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar, Chen Hai met the military council’s foreign minister U Than Swe in Nay PyiTaw on  25  July and pursued himto suppress online gambling activities in Myanmar-China border areas.

Chinese embassy in Myanmar announced on  25 August that the Myanmar police handed over 24 Chinese nationalsafter they were arrested for onlinefrauds  at the end of August.

It’s reported that the Chinese nationals,  who run online gambling businesses, work  in big citieslike Yangon as well as Shwe Kukkol (KarenState) in Burma-Thailand border areas.
