The military council on 2 August removed Dr Aung Kyaw Min, a member of the State planning and administrationcouncil, from duties.
He served asPrime Minister of Rakhine State after the military coup and later shifted to the council as a member in2021.
According to article 419 of Myanmar Constitution, the council allowed some members to retire from duties.Aung Kyaw Min and U Maung were alsorelieved from duties.
Additinally, chief justice U Tun Tun Oo, energy minister U Myo Myint Oo, labour minister Dr PwongSan, power minister U Thaung Han, religion & culture minister U Ko Ko along with the Myanmarhuman rights commission chairman, anti-corruption commission chairman and the Union auditor general were also suspended.
Aung Kyaw Min, who hails from Taungup locality of Rakhine State, serving as the Prime Minister fortwo years. On 2 February 2023, he wasappointed as a council member and after six months he has been suspended.
Earlier, he served as the social welfare minister of Rakhine State under the government of formerPresident U Thein Sein.
A retired colonel named Htain Lin has been appointed as Rakhine State chief minister. Htain Lin served as the security & border affairs minister of Rakhine State for 7 years from 2011.
