At least 3 peopledied due to electrocution in the last two months in Rakhine State after thecyclonic storm that hit the western Myanmar State.
Ko Phyo Min Zaw (b) Phauk Sachay (a young worker atthe substation of Rathedaung town) was electrocuted to death on 13 July.
Hailing from Taungup district town, Zaw used to comefor work at Rathedaung substation.
A local resident said that Zaw went to repair somework voluntarily. The blackout was going on in the neighborhood. As he startedworking with the live wire, he faced electrocution and died subsequently.
Another electrical worker in Sittwe (who came from theIrrawaddy region to work in Arakan State) and a common resident of Sittwe alsodied of electrocution on the same day (10 June).
After the Mocha, the electricity supply in RakhineState was cut off for many days. Now the system has been repaired and itunfortunately brings sad news of electrocution deaths.
The experts have appealed to the people to be carefulwith the power supply in the storm-affected townships of Rathedaung,Buthidaung, Maungdaw etc where the electricity has been lately restored.
