The Arakan Army (AA) is carrying out rehabilitation works in areas (under its control) of Rakhine Statewhich were affected by the cycloneMocha.

In the rehabilitation process, the AA is giving priority in offering rice and temporary shelters to theneedy Rakhine people. The AA membershave also been reconstructing village houses which faced destruction by the storm.

AA spokesperson U Khaing Thukha said through his twitter account that the rehabilitation is being done in thetownships of Buthidaung, Rathedaung,Ponna Kyunt, Mrauk U, Kyauk Taw,Maebon and  Minbya.

Residents said that most of the people of Rakhine, who werebadly affected by Mocha,are yet to receive any relief fromthe government. They are stillstruggling for survival.

The military council has done little for the cyclone affected Rakhine people, but it is playing propagandasthrough their media platforms.

Unlike the military council, the United League of Arakan (ULA, political wing of AA) is actively working to rebuild thestorm-ravaged Rakhine State, said the locals.

The ULA has also formed a Cyclone Mocha Emergency Relief and Resettlement Committee (Cyclone MochaERRCA) and continues working on therehabilitation process.

It issued a statement a month after the storm saying that only 30 percent of Mocha affected Rakhinepeople have received emergency aid, butthe remaining 70 % are still in need of support.

Among the people of Rakhine State affected by the storm, there are 220,773 households inneed of emergency food aid, of which 21,164 households have already received emergency foodand the remaining 1,9960 households are still in need of food aid.

In addition, there are 22,130 households in need of emergency shelters, of which5,1924 households have already received shelters, and the remaining 169,206 households are still inneed of emergency shelters,stated the Cyclone Mocha ERRCA.
