Village woman injured with shell explosion in Min Bya

Narinjara News, 6 October 2022

A woman in Kyan Dike village under Min Bya township was injured in a shell explosion, which was deliberately fired by the junta forces on Wednesday night.

The injured lady is identified as Daw Sein Aye Nu (over 40 years old) and is said to have come from Pha Pro village to escape the battle there. While taking shelter in Kyan Dike village, she faced the explosion.

The army personnel, stationed at Minywa hill number 144, fired three artillery shells on 5 October in the evening hours, one of which exploded in the village.

The lady sustained injuries all over her body and it was difficult to shift her to the hospital because of night hours as the security forces had blocked all the roads, said a villager.

On 26 and 27 September, three villagers including a child, were injured in Min Pya township's Keng Laung Choung village due to the shooting by the military council’s navy personnel using the helicopter.

Last night, the LIB (541) battalion fired heavy weapons on Mae Taw Taung hill of Min Bya township, informing a Minpya town resident at about 8:30 pm.

The army personnel have been shelling over several townships like Maungdaw, Buthidaung, Rathedaung, Kyauk Taw, Min Bya and Mrauk U during night hours without any provocation. Those explosions have killed and injured many civilians and also damaged many residential buildings.
