The ArakanArmy (AA) claims that it has successfully occupied a military base in northernMaungdaw of Arakan (Rakhine) State near the Bangladesh border.
An AA pressstatement said that camp belonging to battalion number 352, which is locatedabout three kilometers southeast of Long Dom (Mro Ethnic village), was capturedby their armed members on Saturday.
The camp,built on Gopi mountain Passe between Maungdaw and Buthidaung,is identified as a strategically important strongholdof military junta forces.
The AAmembers attacked the camp by 6 :17 am and itwas successfully captured by 7:22 am.
A number ofsoldiers were killed in the battle. Many sustained injuries and someof them surrendered to the AA. A large volume of weapons and ammunition were also seized by AA members.
The junta forces attacked AA fighters by the helicopters and jet fighters, but finally they gave up the base.
On 31 August, the AA members captured a military base nearmilepost number 40 on the Arakan -Bangladesh border. The military council later officially announced that they are tryingto recapture it.
The junta forces are facing attacks in various placesof Arakan(Rakhine) and Paletwa township of ChinState forover a week.
