A police officer was shot dead by a junior in Kyauk Phyu  of Rakhine Stateyesterday night.

According to the police report, the incident took place at10:35 pm of  29 July at Kyauk Phyu  police station.

The victim, identified as sub–police superintendent Ohn ZawHtay, succumbed to injuries at Kyauk Phyu district hospital.

The accused killer, identified as  constable Soe Lin Aung, ran away afterthe incident. He fled with a gun and over 100 live bullets. About five gunshotswere heard by the people living nearby the police station.

A  Kyauk Phyu  resident informed Narinjara Newsthat he  heard four to five shots from the police station. Later he cameto know that the injured police officer died at the hospital in the nighthours.

It is yet to be revealed why he targeted his senior officer. The militarycouncil and the local police personnel are desperately looking for him.
