30 Muslims arrested in Bago division

At least 30 undocumented Muslim people were arrested from Padaung township under Bago division on 22 July, reported a news agency. Out of 30, 18 women are also included.

They were detained by the joint forces  at Bufet checkpoint of the town while they were traveling to Burma proper from Rakhine state by a truck.

"The travelers tried to hide themselves in the vehicle, but the on duty officials found them while checking the vehicle at U Shit Pin Butek bridge gate. Currently, they have been detained at U Shit Pin police station,” said a resident.
The report claimed that the villagers came from Maungdaw district in northern Rakhine State.

On 28 June, five people including a woman were arrested from Padaung township of Pyay district under Bago division as they were travelling without valid documents.

Among the five Muslim people, three came from Zahasura and Hazeong village of Cox's Bazar district in Bangladesh and the other two were from Maungdaw township, a bordering town with Bangladesh. .
