Six Rakhine nationals from Bangladesh arrested in Maungdaw

Six Bangladeshi Rakhine nationals, who entered Maungdaw township, were arrestedat the Kyaing Chaung checkpoint in northern Maungdaw locality on 28 June.

The six detainees include  Nay Htet Lin (18 years old),  Thet Yin (23), Maung Yaing (28),  Thar Tun Hla (31),  San Htwe Maung (32) and Mg Mgalias Runam (18).

According to the reliable information, the detainees crossed the internationalborder-fencing from Bangladesh to go to Malaysia via Maungdaw (Rakhine State)to work there.

The driver (Myo Kyaw Thu) was arrested from Thinbaw Hla (outside) village in Maungdawtownship.

An administrator, who spoke on condition of anonymity,informed, “I heard that all of them will be produced in the court. But I cannot confirm.”

Seven people including the driver will be charged under the relevant immigrationlaws.
