Twelve deadbodies including the children were recovered from Gwa coast, locatedin southern Rakhine State close to Irrawaddy division on 24 and 25 May last. Itincreases the casualty up to 29 in a boat capsize.
A Gwa townshippolice station officer confirmed that 12 bodies, belonging to Muslimcommunity, were found within two days in Gwa sea beaches.
"On 24 May,four bodies were recovered and the next day eight bodies were found. They allbelonged to Mulsim villages in Rakhine state. Their burials were doneaccordingly,” said the police officer.
Earlier on 21May, seventeen Muslim bodies were recovered from ShweThaungyan beach under Pathein township of Irrawaddydivision.
All the victimshail from Rathidaung township of Rakhine State and they faced themotorboat accident while traveling from Rakhine to Yangon proceeding to the Malaysian, said general Zaw MinTun, the military council spokesman.
At least 90Muslim people left Rathidaung, 20 miles north of Sittwe with a motorboat that facedthe accident on 21 May because of the stormy weather. The boat finallysank in the eastern sea of Irrawaddy division.
The Patheintownship police have rescued and later detained 30 survivors, all of them fall in theage group of 14 to 40 years.
The successivegovernments have restricted Muslims in Rakhine state in traveling, but many of them try toleave their places with the help of illegal brokers. Often they face accidentswhile travelling to Malaysia.
