At least 25 million stimulant pills worth kyats 32.5 billion were seized in Ann township of Rakhine Stateand Shwepyithar township under Rangoondivision, said the CCDAC Myanmar.
On 5 April in the early morning hours, the authorities detained two suspects in connection with 15 millionecstasy pills seized at Ann jointcheckpoint in Rakhine State. The detainees were later identified as Zaw Myo Thant (alias Pho Htoo) and Thein ThanMyint.
Later the police arrested Kyaw Min Thein (alias Thein Shwe), Htet Wai Yan, Hla Aung Zan, Nan Aung Lin, MoeChae and Moe Kyaw along with a vehicle at around 11:30 pm in Mrauk-U locality. The arrested individuals are suspected to beinvolved with the seized drugs.
On 6 April, another consignment of 10 million ecstasy tablets and a car were confiscated from a warehouseon Myat Lay Pat road in Shwepyithartownship.
According to the CCDAC Myanmar, the seized stimulant drugswere being transported fromRangoon region to Rakhine localities and those involved are being prosecuted under the laws.
The pills are understood to be smuggled to Bangladesh through the Rakhine localities, said theanti-narcotics authority.
