A Rakhine individual was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in the Kyauk Myaung area of Tamwe townshipin Yangon (Rangoon) in the morninghours of 1 April last.
The deceased has been identified as U Thet Zaw (40 years old), hailing from Tawlay village of Laytaungtown under Rambree township in RakhineState.
Daw Khin Mar San, the victim’s wife, revealed that two masked men entered a tea shop and then targeted UThet Htwe while he was drinking acup of tea along with some of his friends. The tea stall is located at Satipatthan road in Kyauk Myaung area.
The victim died on the spot succumbing to injuries by fivegunshot wounds in his neck, back,abdomen and chest.
His wife demands justice to her family. Speaking to Narinjara News, the lady asserted, “I want the truth tobe revealed. The gunmen should bepunished under the law.”
Ko Htwe, who was with him in the tea shop, also received injuries and is presently undergoing medicaltreatments.
According to a source close to the victim, U Thet Htwe hadno political affiliation but helooked like the Kyauk Myaung ward administrator.So it may be a case of mistaken identity that led to
the shooting over U Thet Htwe.
“U Thet Htwe is not associated with any political party. He only used to provide assistance to the localcommunity,” said one of his neighbours.
U Thet Htwe’s mortal remains were brought to Tamwe township police station for necessary proceduresleading to his cremation after handingover the body to the family members.
