The military council has fined another Rakhine woman for voting twice in the last national election held inNovember 2020.
The Yangon-based ladyhas to pay Kyat 100,000 for the offence. The authority has thus tried to prove the last generalelection as a rigged one.
The 28-year-old lady named Ma Win May, who was fined by the Shwepyithar township court on 21February, is a resident of ward 8 in thetownship.
Ko Min Soe Min, a Rakhine social welfare activist, informed that though Ma Win May isa native of Ponnagyun township in Rakhine State, she voted in Yangon. She was fined under section 171 (f) of thePenal Code for electoralfraudulences.
Another Rakhine woman named Manan Soe, who voted withMa Win May, was also fined Kyat100,000 by the same court on 9 February.
At least three Rakhine women in Yangon were charged with twocounts of voting in the polls,where two of them were sentenced and the other one is out of the country.
Daw Ma Sein (50) from the airport area of Ann township inRakhine State was also fined Kyat100,000 by the Ann township court on 9 Februaryconvicting them of double voting in 2020 polls.
It may be mentioned that the current military council hadoverthrown the NLD government ledby Aung San Suu Kyi on 1 February 2021 with the allegations of electoral fraudulence in the last nationalelection and seized power.
With an aim to establish their allegations, the military council has started identifying thedouble voters and also fined those electorates.
