The embassy of Israel  in Myanmar donated 320 bags of rice to IDPs in Paletwa township in Chin State through the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), said a statement from the Israeli embassy.

As a new horizon of cooperation between Myanmar and Israel, the Rangoon based embassy intends to nurture the need of food items to the families affected by the armed conflicts in southern Chin township bordering Rakhine State.

The rice bags were already handed over to WFP on 14 December.

The embassy expresses satisfaction that the rice bags (50 kg each) should provide necessary food intakes for nearly 1,000 displaced people in Paletwa for one month.

“The primary aim to offer the food-aids to Paletwa region is to address the urgent crisis in the camps. On behalf of the State of Israel, our embassy will continue to support with humanitarian
assistances to the people of Burma in future too,” said Ronen Gilor, the Israeli Ambassador to Myanmar.

He also added that the Israeli embassy will continue working with the WFP to meet the food & nutrition needs in Burma.
