Fifth Covid-19 patient dies at Sittwe hospital

A Covid-19 patient died at Sittwe general hospital at 9 am yesterday to increase the total tally of novel corona virus victims in Rakhine State to seven.

“The deceased was a 48-year-old man with diabetic complications.  He was serving as the director of a government department,” said Dr Za Lwin, the head of Sittwe hospital adding that he is the fifth Covid-19 victim who breathed his last at  ICU of the hospital.

Till date, seven corona patients have died in Rakhine State, where the rest two victims were reported from Kyauktaw and Pauktaw Townships.

Altogether 1,788 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Rakhine State till  6 pm of 7 October. By now 1,455 individuals were discharged from the hospitals, said a statement issued by Rakhine Covid-19 Watch.

Across the country, 2,1433 tested positive for the virus infections with 510 casualties, said a statement issued by the Union health and ports ministry till yesterday Evening.
