AA launches attacks on four security positions in Arakan

Arakan Army (AA) members launched attacks at least on four positions targeting the security forces within last two days in Arakan (Rakhine) province of western Myanmar.

Khaing Thu Kha, spokesperson of AA informed Narinjara over telephone
that three attacks were organized in the night hours of 28 August, while the other one was launched on  August 29.

“In Kyaw Taw cantonment, our comrades attacked the brigade Sakakha 9 headquarter, 376 no battalion headquarter and a navy company on Kaladan river  by type 107 mm  rocket during the night hours. The
firing hit the target accordingly,” said Khaing Thu Kha.

During the attack, a 42 years old woman from Shwe Hlaing village under Kyauk Taw township sustained injuries on her legs as the security forces retaliated with artillery and small guns.

Next day, AA members attacked an army artillery base, stationed on Lun Mway Taung mountain range near to Yangon-Siitwe highway under Mrauk U township between 4 am and 10 am.

Khaing Thu Kha claimed that nearly 30 soldiers in the army base were killed in attacks, where as the security forces claimed that 7 AA members got neutralized and their bodies were found outside the fence of army base.

Spokesperson of western command Bridger Win Zaw Oo admitted that AA attacked the army camp in the morning hours, but the soldiers could defend them affectively as it had prior inputs about the attack.

Altogether three civilian women, one from Thit Wa Bying village under Mrauk U township and two from Kyauk Taw township
received injuries in two days fighting and they were sent to the nearby hospital for necessary treatments.
