The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Myanmar Ambassador U Aung Kyaw Moe
on Tuesday to protest the ongoing conflicts along the Bangladesh border.
Director General of the Myanmar wing of the ministry, Mia Mohammad Mainul
Kabir, summoned the official and handed over the protest note at the State
Guest House Padma.
This followed Monday's incident in which two people – a Bangladeshi woman
and a Rohingya man -- were killed as mortar shells fell on the Bangladesh side
of the border in Tumbru.
Besides, several other Bangladeshis were injured by mortar shells or bullets
as the Myanmar Army and rebel group Arakan Army fought battles on the Arakan.
As per latest developments, a total of 113 Border Guard Police (BGP) members
of Myanmar have taken shelter in Bangladesh since last Saturday.
The government is in talks with Myanmar to send them back.
