The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Myanmar Ambassador U Aung Kyaw Moeon Tuesday to protest the ongoing conflicts along the Bangladesh border.
Director General of the Myanmar wing of the ministry, Mia Mohammad MainulKabir, summoned the official and handed over the protest note at the StateGuest House Padma.
This followed Monday's incident in which two people – a Bangladeshi womanand a Rohingya man -- were killed as mortar shells fell on the Bangladesh sideof the border in Tumbru.
Besides, several other Bangladeshis were injured by mortar shells or bulletsas the Myanmar Army and rebel group Arakan Army fought battles on the Arakan.
As per latest developments, a total of 113 Border Guard Police (BGP) membersof Myanmar have taken shelter in Bangladesh since last Saturday.
The government is in talks with Myanmar to send them back.
