The USA Ambassador in Myanmar Scot Marciel met Arakan National Party (ANP) leaders in Sittwe on Wednesday during his three-day visit to Arakan.

The ANP vice-president Daw Aye Nu Sein informed about the meeting with the United States of America’s diplomat Scot Marciel.

“We met at ANP headquarter in Sittwe and discussed various issues. He explained us about his trip to Arakan and also made queries about our party policies and future plans,” said Daw Aye Ni Sein.

The diplomat also asked about ANP’s relationship with the present NLDgovernment, but he avoided any question about the Muslims in Arakan State.

“We explained our strategies and interest to talk to NLD leaders but they are yet to respond. So our unusual relationship was exposed to him {Scot Marciel},” added Daw Aye Ni Sein.

The American diplomat, who was appointed as the Ambassador to Myanmar in April 2016, also met some Muslim leaders at Aung Minglar ward of Sittwe.

Scot Marciel arrived at Sittwe on 5 July to understand various issues of Arakan and concluded his visit on 7 July to leave for Yangon.
