As the general election in Burma (Myanmar) is approaching, news related to initial poll campaign and also counter actions also start pouring. One such recent incident has been reported from Sittwe, the capital city of Arakan State in western part of the country.

The incident took place on 24 September, when the miscreants destroyed the election posters of Arakan Patriotic Party (APP).

U Maung Khin Tun, chief of APP’s Sittwe office informed that he saw the torn posters on the street on 24 September at around noon, where as those were on place till 8.30 am. He also informed that the exact location was in between Sittwe general hospital and the new clock tower.  The APP has already lodged a complaint at Sittwe police station and sent the copies to the city election commissioner.

Earlier the miscreants destroyed party signboard of  Arakan National Party (ANP) at  Anouk Your village under Ann township of Arakan on 22 September.

“We have lodged a complaint at Anouk Your police station next day (23 September) relating to the incident,” said U Zaw Minn, joined secretary of ANP’s Ann township committee.

Prior to this incident, signboards of ANP and Chin National League for Democracy (CNLD) were also destroyed in February at Paday Gyaw village of Hmor track under Ann township of the State.
