Huge volume of Yaba tablets seized in western Arakan

The Myanmar border police have recovered 475200 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets worth over Kyat 950 million from Maungdaw- Buthidaung motor road.

According to the border police officers, acting on a tip-off, their personnel conducted the drive on Monday evening and the team was led by Aung Myint Oo from Taungbazar police station.

“The police team recovered the contraband tablets from three canvas bags, which were put in the middle of  a tunnel. Called Taung Khong Chay by the locals, the tunnel was not in use for some time as it turned old,” informed the police.

Narinjara News was informed that 9900 Yaba tablets were kept in one bag and the rest were put in 48 separate bags.

The police have already lodged a case (no Maya (Pa) 5/2-17 Mu/sit) under section  19(kha) of the narcotics act following the recovery.
