A cargo ship, sailing to Arakan from the former capital city of Burma (Myanmar) remains untraced. Kankaw Htoo 1 with 11 crew members left for Sittwe from Yangon but it has neither arrived in the Arakan capital city nor anchored any places on the way.
The Arakan water transport department chief U Htin Kyaw informs that the cargo ship with 450 tons of freights got sunk on 18 September on the way where the crew members also went on missing. Later two bodies among crew members were recovered from the beach.
“It may have sunk in Pyinsalu beach of Pyin district under Irrawaddy division. It departed from Yangon on 17 September and sank next evening. The communication with the crew members got disconnected by 18 September night,” added U Htin Kyaw.
