Burmese national arrested with huge volume of Yaba tablets

The Border Guard Bangladesh arrested a Burmese national at Teknaf in Cox’sBazar and seized a huge volume of Yaba tablets from his possession on Saturday morning. The market value of the seized tablets will be around taka 2.4 crore, according to a report published by the Dhaka based The Daily Star.

The arrested Burmese Muslim national is identified as Mohammad Salam, 35, who hails from Mongdu locality. According to Maj Abu Rasel Siddiqui, deputy commanding officer of BGB Battalion-2, his team charged a fishing boat approaching Muchni area of river Naf at around 6:30am.

Three sailors, who were in the boat immediately jumped into the river. The security forces caught Salam and recovered 30,000 Yaba tablets. Later he was handed over to the police.

Hours after, the BGB team raided another fishing boat in Jaliardwip area of the same locality and seized 50,000 more pills, added Maj Abu Rasel Siddiqui.
