Burmese athletes to participate in 10 categories of Asian Games

Myanmar will participate in 17th Asian Games, scheduled for 19 September to 4 October 2014 in Incheon city of  South Korea in 10 categories.

According to the information received here, the southeast Asian country will compete in the categories of Honshu, Archery, Athletics, Judo, Weight-lifting, Net Trawl, Shooting, Taekwondo, Wrestling and Valley Ball in the Incheon Asian Games.

U Kyaw Sann, director general of Burmese sports ministry informed that initially they thought of sending sportspersons for 13 categories to Korea, but later it was reduced to 10 categories.

“Athletes will compete in 36 sports, including the 28 Olympic Games sports on the programme for Rio de Janeiro 2016. Organisers will use 49 competition venues, including 23 new stadiums, and 54 training venues, 49 of which already exist,” stated the official website of 2014 Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee.
