Arakanese politician and a member of Arakan State Parliament U Hla Aung Nyunt was released on Monday from Kyauk Pru Prison without any condition, family sources said.
According to the family sources, Arakanese National Party (ANP) member U Hla Aung Nyunt, who won from Min Bya township constituency in the November 2015 Parliamentary elections, was charged by a woman last year.
U Hla Aung Nyunt was sentenced to one year imprisonment, but following the appeal from his family members at the Mrauk U district court on 14 March, the judges ordered his release, as it did not find any concrete evidence of his misconduct.
The Arakanese politician was sentenced to one year imprisonment by the Mray Bon township court on 28 January this year under the criminal acts 451 & 506 relating to intrusion into a house without permission and also threats for killing an individual.
According to local sources, U Hla Aung Nyunt entered into a colleague’s residence located at Outwra Bai ward in Min Bya on the evening of 30 August 2015. At that time, the house owner was chatting with his wife (Mrs U Mya Kyi).
Later the lady lodged a case against U Hla Aung Nyunt at Min Bya police station accusing the senior politician of threatening her with dire consequence. The police registered a case (number (Pa) 133/2015 under section act 451 and act 506) against him.
An influential ANP central committee member U Thein Zan expressed shock that U Hla Aung Nyunt was falsely sued by Mrs U Mya Kyi. He however disclosed that conspiracies were hatched last year too against U Hla Aung Nyunt to prevent him from fighting in the national elections.
Finally U Hla Aung Nyunt overcame all hurdles and won the polls and presently he has arrived at Sittwe for taking oath as a Arakan State Parliament member to serve the nation for five years from now.
