Arakanese student leader Ko Tun Min Khant, who was charged for his involvement in a protest demonstration, faced interrogations for the first time on 5 February 2016 at Kamaryut court.

The former president of Arakanese Student Union (Dagon University unit) arrived in the court as he was charged with article18 on 14 January for his involvement with a demonstration held at  U Tun Lin Park under Hlayten township on 30 March 2014 with the demand for decentralizing the education sector.

“I want to appeal to the government to avoid grudges while dealing with the students. What is the logic to charge me for a demonstration that took place in 2014? We could have been arrested soon after the porgramme, if at all we broke the law. We did not run away after the demonstration,” said Ko Tun Min Khant.

At the time of protest programme, Ko Zayar Lwin was the president of Student Union (Dagon University unit), where Ko Tun Min Khant functioned as his deputy.

While Ko Tun Min Khant along with Ko Zayar Lwin was present at the court, their well-wishers from Burma Student Union assembled there. The accused student leaders had however rejected the charges leveled against them.
