Arakanese convention is scheduled for April

(Chiang Mai, 12 February 2014) : Arakanese National Convention is scheduled for the coming April at Kyauk Pru of Arakan, where leaders from various Arakanese political parties & social groups are expected to participate in it, said a statement issued by the organizing committee.

The decision to hold the convention at Kyauk Pru, the second largest city of Arakan, starting from April 27 came out after a meeting of Arakanese leaders in Thailand. The three-day Thailand meet, which was
organized in Chiang Mai from February 7, was attended by the leaders from several Arakanese political and social groups from inside and outside Burma. An organizing committee with seven members was also formed in the meeting for the Arakanese convention.

The Kyauk Pru convention is organized with three objectives including the solidarity/unity among the Arakanese people, achieving national equality & fair of rule and reconstructing a new society with peace, safety and development.
