Taungup.jpgAmerican diplomat Clint Fenning paid a visit to the southern part of Arakan on March 11, where he discussed various issues with the local officials and residents.

The American envoy arrived in Taungup township for meeting local people there, informed  U Zayyarkyaw of Taungup social network.

Speaking to Narinjara, the social network spokesman disclosed that the diplomat met local leaders of Rakhine National Development Party (RNDP) in  the morning.

Another meeting was held at township executive office, where he met Taungup township officers and also well-known business man U Kyauktaung.

Another meeting was organized in Dhamma Dipade library, where the American diplomat talked to over 50 representatives from Rakhine social network, blood donors’ association, Taungup funeral society etc.

One of the major issues of discussion  was the Bengali (Rohingia) residents of Burma. During US President Barack H. Obama’s visit to Burma, he pronounced a word ‘Rohingya’, which actually complicated the situation in the country. Many Burmese organizations had expressed dissatisfaction over the word in Obama’s voice.

He however admitted that the meeting of Clint Fenning  with the business man U Kyauktaung and also the officers from township government officer were  confidential.
